The Association for Facilities Engineering®

The Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) is a professional credentialing body and membership organization serving all professionals working in the built environment. Established in 1915, AFE remains a leading technical education and credentialing resource for facilities management professionals. AFE hosts one of the most recognized certifications in the facility industry, the Certified Professional Maintenance Manager, CPMM® credential and one of the longest living engineering certifications, the Certified Plant Engineer, CPE® credential.

Facility engineers provide the expertise that ensures the optimal performance of any facility. The Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) program certifies a professional’s ability to accurately diagnose and resolve any maintenance or reliability issues within a facility.

CPE ® Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility 1:

4 Years Maintenance Management Experience
+ Bachelors of Administration or Bachelors of Science in Related Field

Eligibility 2:

8 Years Maintenance Management Experience
+ High School Diploma

Work and educational references will be required on the application to verify eligibility. These eligibility requirements are to help ensure the optimal success for our program participants.
